Dreaming Disney - WDWNT: The Magazine - Thor's Journey Into Mystery

My last article is up at WDWNT: The Magazine.  The article, "Thor's Journey Into Mystery" explores the comic book origins of Thor: The Dark World's main characters including Thor and Loki.  The article discusses both first appearances, what happened afterwards, and a Disney connection to Thor in live action form.

As a bonus, if you want to hear my thoughts on Thor: The Dark World you can check out Welcome to Level Seven's podcast review.  Warning, it is full of spoilers!

Thor: The Dark World will be released for home video February 25th.

Dreaming Disney - Bob Gurr: The Wizard of Wheels

Bob Gurr accepting his Disney Legends honor
My profile of Disney Legend Bob Gurr is now available online at WDWNT: The Magazine

This profile took months to complete and was one of my most involved biographies that I have undertaken.  Why?  Because Gurr was involved in almost everything.  And he did not slip quietly into the night after his Disney years but continued a vibrant design career.

I hope you enjoy the story of the man who is truly the Dean of Disney Wheeled Vehicles!

Dreaming Disney - Marc Davis Imagineering Master

Marc Davis showing a young lady a dress concept for Sleeping Beauty
Another one of my articles was just posted at WDW News Today.  This newest article, "Marc Davis: Imagineering Legend" came out of my fandom of Marc Davis.  There is so much in the Disney parks and film that I enjoy that he helped design.

I hope you enjoy, and I would love to hear any ideas you might have for articles I could explore.

Dreaming Disney - Escape from Casey Jr.

California Screamin' Rollercoaster with evacuated guests
My latest article for WDWNT: The Magazine has gone live.  The tale, "Escape from Casey Jr." recounts the "excitement" of my family being evacuated from the Casey Jr. Circus Train last summer.  I hope you enjoy my attempt to get some humor out of a hot afternoon!

I should not that WDWNT: The Magazine is changing its format and instead of being a PDF magazine, articles will not be published directly at the WDW News Today website as featured content.

Dreaming Disney - WDWNT: The Magazine Issue 18

Cover of WDWNT the Magazine Issue 18 showing the Aluni resort in Hawaii
Issue 18 of WDWNT: The Magazine is now live online!

I have contributed an article about Kyle Crocker the founder of Tales From the Jungle Crews and the Skipcast Network.  I knew of Crocker’s love of the Jungle Cruise, but was not aware of his feelings of pride about Disney California Adventure and it’s coming into it’s own Summer 2012.

Other articles of note include the story elements of Aladdin that never made it to the big screen and the future of Pixar productions.

Remember, WDWNT: The Magazine is free to read online!

Dreaming Disney - WDWNT: The Magazine Issue 17

Cover Issue 17 of WDWNT: The Magazine
Recently I wrote about WDWNT: The Magazine.  I did so for two reasons.  First, I wanted to get the word out about a free Disney fan publication that I believe readers would find interesting.  Second, I wanted to introduce Between Readers to the magazine because I have recently joined the writing staff of WDWNT: The Magazine!

Issue 17 has released this weekend.  In it you will find my first article for the magazine, a profile of Richard Terpstra the blogger behind the DesignerLand blog.  I am personally a huge fan owning three of his shirts.

The profile goes behind Terpstra’s story including his many experiences with Disney.  Sadly, I can never share the most fun aspect of this article, interviewing Terpstra over the phone and hearing the Disney fandom in his voice.  It was one of those situations where I got real quiet and just listened as Terpstra shared his journey with Disney from the Midwest.

I highly encourage you to go read not just my article but the entire issue online at http://www.wdwntthemagazine.com/ or download for your e-Reader at MagCloud.

Dreaming Disney - WDWNT: The Magazine

Cover of Issue 16 fo WDWNT: The Magazine

As you have probably figured out I read quite a bit, seriously a little less than half of my posts are Between Books!  So I am constantly looking for new things to read related to Disney.  Recently I picked up and devoured WDWNT: The Magazine a free fan written online magazine, that is did I mention free?
The magazine is offered by the WDWNT podcast network on a monthly basis.  The magazine can be read in two ways.  One is to read it online through a web browser.  The second is to download the magazine into an e-reader device.  This if the format I prefer downloading the PDF file onto my computer and then emailing it as a document to my kindle account for upload on devices that support the Kindle application, which I am finding in the Between Family is a growing number of devices.  But I would give you this word of advice.  It is possible for you to download the file directly from the WDWNT: The Magazine website.  But this version of the file tends to display two pages of text simultaneously on the devices I read it on.  But by downloading the magazine from MagCloud I can access a file that is perfectly formatted for my device.  You can also order on demand print copies of WDWNT: The Magazine from MagCloud for a fee.
The articles themselves are fan written and vary in content.  They include regular monthly features on food (primarily in the Walt Disney World Resort), Vinylmation, things to try on a Disney Parks vacation, or experiences being evacuated from attractions.  Feature articles primarily focus on Disney parks and may range from the history of specific attractions, recaps of recent events within the parks, reviews of Disney theatrical releases to walkthroughs and reviews of new attractions (such as recent articles by Tom Corless on Cars Land and Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure).  This is just a tip of the iceberg being driven by the diversity of the writing staff and their personal interests.
First and foremost, I love free.  Free is good!  And I appreciate being able to access a variety of Disney related articles for this one low low price.  Additionally, I have read articles on a number of topics that I was not fluent in.  I for example now understand the changes that had been made to the Mickey style Vinylmation mold.  I do enjoy the range of articles.  The magazine is not geographically centered on any one park, so the Disneyland Resort is a frequent topic in this magazine with roots in the Walt Disney World Resort.  And it is not uncommon to find a non-Disney article amongst its pages.
So if free fits your price range I suggest you add WDWNT: The Magazine to your reading diet.  It will help you dream of your next or last Disney vacation in Betweenland.  I do believe you will not be disappointed with the value for the price, of free!
